31/12/2015 – Chas and Dave-Auld Lang Syne (1982)

Right, so another year has come to an end. By tomorrow the world will be awash with empty drink receptacles, cigarette butts, end of year lists and thoughts of what 2016 may hold, but for this evening at least, let’s put the future on hold, like Ebenezer Scrooge in a Christmas Carol, and think soley about this moment now.

Instead of thinking about what could be, or how things could have been better, just take a moment and think about now. While I have no idea what kind of year you’ve had, this is as much your fault as it is mine, we both could have made more of an effort to get to know each other, your year might not have been as bad as you thought. There were highs. Remember these, embrace them and try to learn and move on from your mistakes in 2016, I know I will.

All that is left to do now is play this version, possibly the best version of this song, as loud as you can get away with, with your nearest and dearest at midnight and try and savour the moment. I know I will!
